Last season in the AHL he had just 27 points in 47 games
The B Sens were one of the most disastrous teams in the AHL last year. I think it will probably go down as a bit of a write off year. Mr. Mann seems to have brought the professionalism he had that made Hershey such a solid franchise to the org. |

That and credit to the scouting staff in drafting some of these guys. It's always easier to point out who you COULD'VE had but when you get the guy you want and turn him into something, that's special.
I think anyone that watches the Sens there was a shift like 5-10 games ago. He changed from being a rookie to a guy that actually really wanted to make an impact. He started really making smart players and showing leadership. Still early, but if he can finish with more than 20g & 45p he's really going to be a top 6 going forward. He's not the type of player that will loose motivation or drive; it's more about health and offensive consistency |

He's developing very nicely.
Norris kind of reminds me of him, playing int he College league as a two way center, likely to play on the US JR team. He's starting to look pretty good too |

Interesting convo on TSN radio in Ottawa. Talking about how the Sens might be doing the same rebuild as in 2011 when it wasn't a complete rebuild.
Elite guys (top 3 players most often than not)
--------------------------------
Solid players -- Tkachuk
--------------------------------
Top 6 players -- White, Batherson, Formenton
The Sens either need to tank full - trade Stone and Duchene, get top picks and really tank in the 2019-2020 season OR they need to resign Stone and Duchene to 8 year contracts. Enough of this in btw crap.
For the record, I think Stone and Duchene will be traded; Melynk isn't spending ANYTHING |

5 years from their draft date, how many of these players will be top line or top pairing players?
My money is only on Tkachuk and Chabot. |

I am holding some hope that Batherson could be a first line player in 3 or 4 years. I see Lajoie, White, Jaros and Bernard-Docker as good candidates for second line/second pairing players. I see Formenton as having top 6 potential as well.
That's a fair amount of quality/depth for 4 years worth of drafting. |

I'm not refuting your point on the drafting part. For where they've been selected Ottawa is (in my books) 7th-16th best team in scouting over the past 5-6 years; which means above avg. That said there isn't enough quality; they lack stars. If you go by draft looking at 2011 on-ward:
Zibanejad, Noesen, Puempel, Ceci, Lazar > no 1st line players
Chabot + White were solid picks in 2015 but even with White, is he going to be a top line player? Not in my books, and not for long. There's 50 players in the NHL you can name (Stone, Duchene included) that have reached a level many of these players won't come to. It's a shame because the fanbase, market, and city deserve better and can have better if they didn't have a weasel for an owner |

Forwards
7.25 - Ryan
4.00 - Boedker
3.25 - Smith
3.10 - Pageau
2.94 - Tierney
0.93 - Tkachuk
0.74 - Batherson
D-men & Goalies
4.75 - Anderson
0.86 - Chabot
0.76 - Jaros
0.73 - Harpur
0.71 - Lajoie
Think Gaborik and MacArthur still count right? but yes, touche. Sens will HAVE to resign Mark Stone & Matt Duchene OR go out and resign Erik Karlsson |
